The National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee held a conference in Hanoi on January 4 to discuss the implementation of the legislature’s law-making programme in 2007.

According to NA Vice Chairman Nguyen Van Yeu, less draft laws and ordinances will be approved this year as the NA focuses on reviewing its operations during the current term and preparing for the election of the new legislature. The NA is therefore expected to approve only eight bills, a resolution, and give opinions on 10 other bills during its two sessions to convene this year.

Mr Yeu also said that the NA Standing Committee is expected to discuss and approve 13 ordinances and a resolution.

He asked law drafting boards to coordinate with relevant agencies in building laws to ensure the quality and feasibility of these laws.
