The National Assembly Committee for National Security and Defense has actively accelerated the building and completing of legal document system under the resolutions of the 10th National Party Congress.

In the past term, the committee was assigned to verify five draft laws and five draft ordinances, an increase in the numbers of subjects and also in the scale of adjustments. These draft laws and ordinances are important and sensitive projects in the legal system.


The committee conducted 24 investigation missions, with the aim of carrying out the master plan for socio-economic development, strengthening national security and defence, controlling and protecting the national border, and combining economic activities with national security and defense.


The committee also successfully fulfilled external-related tasks, as well as dealing with petitions of people from all walks of life within its jurisdiction.


Speaking at the committee’s meeting to review its 11th term in Hanoi on February 26, National Assembly chairman Nguyen Phu Trong stressed that the committee should further renew and make its operations more efficient and practical. He underlined three important tasks for the committee to fulfil in the next term, including training human resource, renewing working operations and building advisory panels for the committee.


NA chairman Trong said he hope the committee will fulfil its assigned tasks in the 12th term, first of all the tasks of making good preparation for the election of candidates to the 12th National Assembly scheduled for May 20, 2007.
