NA Chairwoman welcomes Cambodian PM in Hanoi

Vietnamese National Assembly (NA) Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen had a meeting in Hanoi on December 8, stressing the importance of nurturing the two countries’ solidarity and comprehensive cooperation.

Chairwoman Ngan said PM Hun Sen’s official visit is a landmark in bilateral relations and also shows the Cambodian leader’s special sentiment towards the traditional friendship between the two countries.

Informing Ngan about his country’s recent socio-economic development and the results of the 6th-tenure NA election, Hun Sen said in this tenure, the Cambodian Government will make efforts to solve border-related issues with neighbouring countries, including Vietnam.

Chairwoman Ngan emphasised that Vietnam always supports and is delighted at Cambodia’s development achievements. She also congratulated the country on the successful general election.

She voiced her belief that under the leadership of the Cambodian Senate, NA and Royal Government with the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) being the core, the country will sustain its growth and stability, has an increasing role and stature in the region and the world, and obtain even greater accomplishments in national construction.

Applauding the outcomes of the talks between PMs Hun Sen and Nguyen Xuan Phuc, including the signing of five cooperation documents, Ngan affirmed that the Vietnamese NA will work closely with the Cambodian NA and Senate to supervise the realisation of bilateral agreements and promote cooperation between the two Governments, peoples and parliaments in both bilateral and multilateral aspects.

At the meeting, the leaders noted with satisfaction the progress in their countries’ connections. They underlined the necessity of communications to help people, especially younger generations, in the two countries fully understand and continue treasuring the time-tested solidarity and friendship.

Chairwoman Ngan highly valued PM Hun Sen’s attention to issues relevant to Vietnamese-Cambodians, asking him to continue directing support for them so that the community can contribute to Cambodia’s development and the bilateral friendship.
