President Faye warmly welcomed the Vietnamese delegation and praised the official visit by Chairman Tran Thanh Man and other senior leaders. He emphasized that this was the first-ever visit by a top Vietnamese leader to Senegal since diplomatic ties were established, marking an important milestone in reinforcing the growing bilateral relationship.

The Senegalese President noted that 2025 is a pivotal year as the country begins carrying out its Vision Senegal 2050 strategy, and expressed hope that Vietnamese businesses would actively take part in Senegal’s economic development, particularly in the field of digital transformation. He also proposed that Vietnam consider opening a diplomatic mission in Dakar.

The top Vietnamese legislator, on behalf of the Vietnamese Party and State leadership, showed great joy at visiting Senegal and extended his appreciation for the warm and respectful welcome by President Faye and Senegalese officials. On this occasion, he conveyed greetings from Party General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong, and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

Highlighting Senegal’s strategic role in Africa, Chairman Tran Thanh Man affirmed Vietnam’s commitment to expanding comprehensive cooperation, especially in trade, investment, agriculture, telecommunications, and science and technology.

He said that several leading Vietnamese enterprises are exploring investment opportunities in Senegal in these areas. He proposed the two governments enhance the legal framework for bilateral ties, starting with the early conclusion of key agreements such as an investment protection agreement and a double taxation avoidance agreement.

Man also briefed President Faye on the outcomes of his talks with National Assembly Speaker Malick Ndiaye and his meeting with Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, while underscoring their shared commitment to broadening cooperation between the two States, governments, and legislatures.

In response to Senegal’s proposal for a Vietnamese diplomatic mission in Dakar, Man said he would report it to the Vietnamese Government for further consideration. In the meantime, he suggested that the two sides consider appointing honorary consuls in each country to help facilitate trade, investment, and economic ties. He also expressed hope for stronger exchanges between localities in both countries to help push up the close friendship and deepen mutual understanding between the two peoples.
