Chairman Hung praised the capital city’s achievements in socio-economic development, defence-security, social order over the past year, contributing to the whole country’s achievements.
He asked municipal leaders to do their utmost to successfully implement the 11th Party Congress’ Resolution and the city’s socio-economic targets in 2012.
The city should focus on developing the transport, economic, socio-cultural infrastructure systems and urban management, narrowing the development gap, promoting the knowledge-based economy and seeking an appropriate development, Mr Hung said.
Greater attention should be given to education, science-technology, sports, health care and tourism, he added.
The Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, Pham Quang Nghi, affirmed Hanoi’s resolve to fulfill its socio-economic targets for 2012, creating a premise for the successful implementation of resolutions of the 15th municipal Party Congress and the 11th Party Congress.
Over the past year, Hanoi fulfilled the Party and Government’s targets of curbing inflation, maintaining macro-economic stability and ensuring social welfares in 2011, Mr Nghi said.
The same day, Auxiliary Bishop of the Hanoi Archdiocese Chu Van Minh paid a visit to the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee on the occasion of the upcoming Lunar New Year (Tet) Festival.
Minh praised the VFF Central Committee’s role in acting as a bridge to convey thought and aspirations of the people to the Party and State, helping uphold the great national unity bloc.
At a reception for the Auxiliary Bishop, Deputy President of the VFF Central Committee Ha Van Nui spoke highly of active contributions of the Vietnamese Catholic community and followers of the Hanoi Archdiocese, in particular in national construction and development, especially charitable activities to help the poor.
Deputy President Nui said he hopes the Hanoi Archdiocese will work closely with the VFF Central Committee to encourage the parishioners to join patriotic emulation campaigns, charitable activities and actively respond to campaigns launched by the VFF Central Committee.
