It is important to answer all voters’ questions and work out specific measures to resolve concerns, says National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong.

To prepare for the 11th session of the 11th National Assembly which will open on March 20, NA deputies from Hanoi held meetings with voters in Dong Da district, Hanoi on March 4.

At the meeting, the district’s voters highlighted the country’s achievements over the past year and the NA’s role in making laws and big decisions on important issues. However, the NA should continue to further improve its supervisory role in anti-corruption work and discipline-related issues in order to gain people’s trust.

Voters asked the NA to supervise the results of turning state-owned enterprises into joint stock companies under Decree 44, take drastic measures to curb traffic accidents during the Tet holiday and invest in infrastructure construction.

Other issues, such as the pollution in Ba Mau lake and the illegal operation of Karaoke bars in Trung Tu ward, will be resolved by Hanoi municipal authorities. Voters also voiced their hope that the election of deputies to the 12th National Assembly should be implemented in a lawful and democratic manner.

Mr Trong stressed that the NA will operate effectively to ensure democracy and lawfulness. It is important to answer all voters’ questions and work out specific measures to resolve any arising issues.

The NA Chairman affirmed that the 12th National Assembly election is of great significance. He spoke highly of opinions given by voters from Dong Da district which he said will be presented by the Hanoi NA delegation at the coming meeting. He also expressed his hope that voters from Dong Da district will make active contributions to the successful organization of the election, scheduled for May 20.
