National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung left Hanoi on July 3, beginning an official three-day visit to Laos at the invitation of his Lao counterpart Pany Yathotu.

The visit takes place at a time when both countries are carrying out a wide range of activities to celebrate the Vietnam-Laos Friendship and Solidarity Year 2012.

It is expected to strengthen the friendly relations, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

Hung’s visit has grabbed Laos’ headlines. In its editorial, Pasason said that the Vietnam-Laos relationship, which was founded and fostered by late Presidents of Ho Chi Minh and Kaysone Phomvihane, has stood the test of time and become an invaluable asset of the two nations.

The paper noted that such special relationship has developed well in all areas and reaped great successes, living up to the two nations’ expectations.

Other papers, including Vientiane Times, ran wide coverage on Vietnam’s economic achievements and the special relationship between the two countries.
