According to Vietnamese Ambassador to Malaysia Dinh Ngoc Linh, the visit carries strategic significance, aiming to step up parliamentary cooperation, expand potential areas of co-operation, and strengthen mutual trust between both nations’ senior leaders.

This is the first official visit of NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man to Malaysia, highlighting Vietnam’s commitment to a multilateral, diversified, proactive, and responsible foreign policy that contributes to peace, cooperation, and regional and global development.

The visit also supports the effective implementation of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and Malaysia, while demonstrating support for Malaysia in its role as ASEAN Chair 2025. Ambassador Dinh Ngoc Linh emphasized that Vietnam continues to prioritize deepening relations with ASEAN member states, thus reinforcing friendly ties with neighboring nations, and seeking an increasingly significant role in regional and international affairs.

Under the theme “Parliaments at the Forefront for an Inclusive and Sustainable ASEAN”, Vietnam will participate in AIPA 46 with a proactive, responsible, and constructive spirit. Ambassador Dinh Ngoc Linh highlighted that NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man’s attendance at the event shows Vietnam’s clear commitment to accompany ASEAN parliaments in promoting a united, inclusive, and sustainably developing community.

Discussions at the forum will focus on subregional cooperation, food and water security, environmental protection, and responses to non-traditional security challenges, while amplifying citizens’ voices and strengthening people-to-people exchanges.

During the visit, the top Vietnamese legislator will hold meetings with the President of the Malaysian Senate, the Speaker of the Malaysian House of Representatives, and other senior Malaysian leaders.

These meetings will help consolidate strategic trust, expand parliamentary cooperation, and create favorable conditions for businesses from both countries to access each other’s markets, particularly in areas such as green economy, digital economy, innovation, science and technology, and Malaysia’s Halal industry, the Vietnamese diplomat said.

During the eight-month period, bilateral trade reached US$10.66 billion, up 10.3% year-on-year. According to Ambassador Dinh Ngoc Linh, these positive indicators indicate that the two countries are on track to achieve their targets, further develop priority areas, and create opportunities for deeper strategic cooperation.
