Immediately after the welcoming ceremony on March 23, talks were held between the two military leaders, during which Mr Thanh praised the visit as an opportunity to promote joint interests and friendship between the two armies and two peoples.

Mr Nyussi congratulated Vietnam’s Defence Ministry on its successful organisation of the 4^th ASEAN Defence Ministers Meeting (ADMM-4) and thanked Mr Thanh for giving a warm welcome to his delegation.

At the talks, both sides discussed ways to boost defence cooperation in defence industry, logistics, the military, natural disaster control, and poverty reduction.

To mark the occasion, they signed a memorandum of understanding on defence cooperation.
