Three boxes of remains of US servicemen who died during the war in Vietnam were handed over to the US during a ceremony held at Da Nang International Airport on April 4.
Present at the event were representatives from Vietnam Office for Seeking Missing Personnel (VNOSMP), US Ambassador to Vietnam Michael Michalak and representatives from the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command (JPAC).
Remains were recovered during the 94th joint field activities (JFA) from February to April 2009 between Vietnam and the US. This was the 109th repatriation of remains of US soldiers missing in action since 1973.
Addressing the ceremony, a representative of the US Government appreciated the humanitarian policy, goodwill and effective cooperation of the Vietnamese Government and people.
The three boxes were transported to Hawaii for further identification.
