Vietnamese and Lao officials met in Nghe An province from June 2-6 to inspect progress on the upgrading of the network of border markers along the Vietnam-Laos border and the planting of new markers.
Both Vietnam and Laos have agreed to move personnel from provinces where the border marker planting has finished to provinces where the planting is behind schedule.
They also discussed the preparations for the third-round meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Joint Committee on Border Marker Planting scheduled for the third quarter of this year.
Both countries have agreed on 261 sites for marker planting and have finished work on 200 sites so far.
