The Hong Ha Shipbuilding Company officially handed over HQ 272, the first modern combat vessel built by Vietnam, to the naval force on January 16.
The ship is able to operate at sea for 30 days and nights in spite of strong winds and waves within a distance of 2,500 nautical miles offshore.

The HQ 272 will help strengthen the Vietnamese navy’s combative capacity, said Rear Admiral Pham Ngoc Minh, who is Vice Commander of the force. The ship will patrol Vietnam’s territorial waters and protect its islands and continental shelf, he added.
Hong Ha company started building the ship in April 2009, using the state-of-the-art technology.
