Vietnam, together with Mekong countries and Japan is always determined to contribute actively to the Mekong-Japan cooperation mechanisms.

This was stated made by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung at the second Mekong-Japan Summit in Hanoi on October 29.

The summit, which was chaired by PM Nguyen Tan Dung and attended by the Prime Ministers from Japan, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand.

 

At the opening ceremony, PM Dung underlined that the Mekong - Japan Summit aims to review the results of cooperation, discuss future plans and highlight the efforts made by the Mekong nations and Japan to build a cooperative mechanism for a potiically stable and prosperous Greater Mekong-Sub region. 

The PMs also focused on the Mekong-Japan cooperation in economics, politics, science and technology, culture and education.

They also discussed the Action Plan for the Mekong-Japan Economic and Industrial Cooperation Initiative (MJ-CI) and the Action Plan to implement the “A Decade Towards the Green Mekong” Initiative.
