Present at the meeting were Truong Tan Sang, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC), and To Huy Rua, secretary of the CPVCC and head of the CPVCC Commission for Ideology and Culture.
Reports from the CPVCC Commission for Ideology and Culture, the Vietnam Journalists’ Association and the Ministry of Culture and Information stressed that the State management of journalism over the past two years has achieved remarkable progress in line with the rapid development of the media in the integration process.
In the last months of 2006, the press turned the spotlight on major achievements in socio-economic, culture, external affairs, security and defense, contributing to promoting socio-economic development.
However, Hong Vinh, vice head of the CPVCC Commission for Ideology and Culture, said that some committees, sectors, localities and press agencies failed to fulfil their tasks as required. He asked them to try their best to overcome weaknesses and shortcomings.
