A ceremony was held in Dinh Hoa district of the northern mountainous province of Thai Nguyen on May 19 to mark the 60th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh, the Party Central Committee and the Government’s return to the Dinh Hoa Safety Zone to lead the protracted resistance war against French colonialists.

In his speech, Nguyen Bac Son, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, said 60 years ago the Dinh Hoa Safety Zone was selected to be the revolutionary base of the Party Central Committee and the Government, from which many important decisions concerning the destiny of the nation, including those on the Dien Bien Phu campaign, were made.

Over the past six decades, the Party and all ethnic groups in Thai Nguyen have upheld the tradition and made every effort to build the province and the nation, said Mr Son.

Ho Duc Viet, a Politburo member and head of the Central Organisation Commission, acknowledged the province’s achievements over the past years and asked the local Party and all ethnic groups to continue to uphold the revolutionary tradition, grasp Ho Chi Minh's Thought, boost socio-economic development and preserve historical relics.

He also expressed his hope that the election of deputies to the 12th National Assembly slated for May 20 will be successfully organised in the province.

The same day, Mr Viet offered incense at President Ho Chi Minh Memorial House in the Dinh Hoa Safety Zone.
