A meeting was held in the Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang on January 25 to celebrate 81st anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and welcome the Lunar New Year festival.

Tran The Ngoc, Secretary of the Tien Giang Provincial Party Committee delivered a report to recall the glorious history of the CPV which is the vanguard of the working class which is loyal to the interests of the working people and the whole nation.

He emphasized that the provincial party committee and local people have made important contribution to the cause of national liberation, especially to the Doi Moi (Renewal) process. The province has become part of the southern key economic region with its economic growth rate reaching 11 percent in the 2005-2010 period, its average annual income per capita rising to more than VND19 million per year and its poverty rate declining by 7 percent.

He called for co-ordinated efforts to uphold the glorious tradition of the Party and follow the late President Ho Chi Minh’s bright moral example, while trying to build a transparent political system and a strong party committee and fulfill plans for 2011.
