Vietnam's major dailies, Nhan Dan and Quan Doi Nhan Dan, on January 25 carried editorials, emphasizing Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung's visit to Italy as a chance for the two nations to boost political ties, fortify mutual trust and promote economic relations, particularly two-way trade.

Nhan Dan and Quan Doi Nhan Dan newspapers also affirmed that the World Economic Forum (WEF)'s invitation to PM Dung to attend its annual meeting and the organisation of dialogues between the Vietnamese delegation and leaders from world-leading corporations showed that the forum as well as its members highly appreciate Vietnam's rapid economic development.

This will be an opportunity for Vietnam to promote its image and call on big corporations from all parts of the world to choose it as a partner in their global development strategies, the newspapers said.

Laying stress on the great potential for bilateral cooperation, Hanoi Moi newspaper, in its editorial, said that foreign investors, including those from Italy, have considered Vietnam as a partner and a potential market in the fields of food processing, petro-chemistry, building materials, footwear and seafood processing.

Italian businesses have also regarded Vietnam as a gateway to the broad market of
Southeast Asia
, the daily added.

PM Dung left Hanoi on January 25 for a one-day visit to Italy as guest of the President of the Council of Ministers of Italy, Romano Prodi.

The Vietnamese Government leader will then attend an annual meeting of the WEF in Davos, Switzerland, from January 26-27, at the invitation of WEF President Klaus Schwab.
