A ceremony marking the 35th anniversary of the liberation of the Truong Sa archipelago was held by the Khanh Hoa provincial People’s Committee and the Vietnamese People’s Navy in Song Tu Tay commune in Truong Sa island district on April 27.

The commemoration recalled how the Navy deployed its fleet to fight against the US-backed Saigon puppet troops stationed on the islands that make up the Truong Sa archipelago, including Song Tu Tay, Son Ca, Nam Yet and Sinh Ton, resulting in the liberation of the entire Truong Sa archipelago on April 29, 1975.

The State has bestowed many awards and distinctions on the local people and the armed forces of Truong Sa district for their achievements during the defence, construction, and development of their homeland.

Both the military and the local people in Truong Sa district enthusiastically take part in search and rescue missions at sea, making the area safe for fishermen when sailing on the country’s territorial waters.
