State President Nguyen Minh Triet on Dec. 22 sent a message of congratulations to Japanese Emperor Akihito on his 77 th birthday and on the National Day of Japan (Dec. 23).
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung also cabled a congratulatory message to his Japanese counterpart, Naoto Kan.
The same day, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem extended congratulations to Japanese Foreign Minister, Seiji Maehara./.
