Lawmakers to elect key positions in State leadership during July 26 session
VOV.VN - On July 26, the National Assembly is set to elect the State President, the Prime Minister, the Vice State President, the Chief Justice of the Supreme People’s Court, and the Prosecutor General of the Supreme People’s Procuracy.
Right after the election, they will take the oath of office.
Personnel work is the focus of the final two working days after the National Assembly shortened the working program of the first session by another three days.
During the final working days of the first session, lawmakers will also make decisions about the structure and the number of members of the Government, and vote on the appointment of deputy prime ministers, ministers, and other members of the Government, the vice chairperson and members of the National Defence and Security Council, and justices of the Supreme People’s Court.
They will mull over the implementation of the socio-economic development and State budget plans during the first six months and tasks in the latter half of this year to fulfill yearly plans; the socio-economic development plan for 2021 - 2025, which includes the intensification of the COVID-19 fight; and investment policy for the national target programmes on sustainable poverty reduction and new-style rural area building for 2021 - 2025.
Other issues on the working programme in the coming days cover the financial plan, the public borrowing and debt repayment plan, and the medium-term public investment plan for 2021 - 2025; the approval of the 2019 State budget balance; and the thrift practice and wastefulness prevention in 2020.
The 15th legislature is also scheduled to vote on a number of important resolutions during the final working days of its first session, with the closing ceremony set to come to an end on July 28.
