The last session of the 11th National Assembly will begin in Hanoi on March 20. Deputies will spend time reviewing the performance of State bodies, including the NA, the NA Standing Committee, the NA Ethnicity Council and other committees during the last working term.

It will also hear reports by the State President, the Prime Minister, and the heads of the Supreme People’s Court and Supreme People’s Procuracy.

Speaking at the preliminary session in Hanoi on March 19, NA Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong asked deputies to discuss solutions for improving the supervisory role of the legislative body in the coming term.

The last session is expected to adopt amendments and supplements to some articles of the NA Organisation Law and to some regulations on celebrating the Death Anniversary of Hung Kings as the national holiday. Deputies will give opinions on the special amnesty and chemical bills and examine the Government reports on the implementation of the Law on Corruption Prevention and Control and the Law on Thrift Practice and Wastefulness Prevention.

According to Mr Trong, some pressing issues of voter concern will be discussed at the session.
