Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and President of the Lao National Assembly Pany Yathotu emphasized this at a meeting in Hanoi on April 25.

PM Dung said Vietnam and Laos should make greater efforts to foster cooperation in all fields, including economics, trade, investment, education and training.

He welcomed Ms Yathotu and her delegation’s visit to Vietnam to attend the conference on parliamentary cooperation, saying it was a significant event which marked the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Year 2012 and contributed to strengthening ties between the two nations.

President Yathotu said she was pleased to witness the achievements of the Vietnamese Party, State and people in socioeconomic development.

Vietnam’s success will give fresh impetus for the cause of national construction and development in Laos, she said, adding that the Lao State and people will preserve and educate the younger generations about the special ties of friendship with Vietnam.

The President highlighted the contributions of Vietnamese businesses operating in Laos to the country’s social welfare, and said Laos will create favourable conditions for these enterprises to expand their production and investment.

She proposed that both nations further promote people-to-people diplomacy, reinforce cooperation between border localities, and build a borderline of peace, cooperation, friendship and development.

Ms Yathotu said she hopes Vietnam will share with Laos its experience in socio-economic development, poverty reduction, and foreign investment attraction.
