The Lao delegation was welcomed by Nguyen Van Son, member of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC) and Director of the CPVCC's Commission for External Relations.

Both host and guest informed each other of the implementation of the Party Congress' Resolution in each country and exchanged views on international and regional issues of mutual concern. They also informed each other of measures and joint activities to mark the 45th anniversary of the Vietnam-Laos diplomatic ties and the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Vietnam-Laos Friendship and Cooperation Treaty.

The Lao delegation also held a working session with Deputy Foreign Minister Le Bang and toured a number of agencies and cultural and economic establishments in Hanoi.
