Lao Front vows to boost ties with Vietnam

President of the Lao Front for National Construction (LFNC) Phaduongchit Vongsa has affirmed that the Party, State, LFNC and people of Laos will do their utmost to raise the Laos–Vietnam special ties to a new height.

Meeting with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong in Hanoi on May 27, Vongsa informed his host of the outcomes of talks with the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) on the same day.

Trong highly valued the increasingly effective cooperation between the LFNC and VFF in fostering Vietnam–Laos solidarity.

He said he hopes the two sides will continue working closely together to share experience and hold communication campaigns featuring the Vietnam–Laos special ties.

Trong also expressed his belief that the Lao people will continue harvesting greater achievements in their renewal cause.

During earlier talks with VFF President Huynh Dam, the two sides agreed to further their bilateral friendship and cooperation in the near future, especially the implementation of cooperation agreements for the 2011 – 2016 period signed in Vientiane on November 24, 2011.

Accordingly, Vietnam and Laos will raise public awareness of the solidarity tradition, friendship and cooperation between the two nations, boost people-to-people exchange, and work with relevant agencies to call on businesses and people of all strata to effectively implement cooperation programmes between the two Governments in economics, culture, science, education, health care and the environment.

President Huynh Dam asked the LFNC and VFF to encourage those living along the two countries’ border areas to support each other and build the Vietnam–Laos border of peace and friendship.

At the same time, they were requested to promote models of cooperation between the LFNC, VFF and local authorities of all levels, especially the exchange of delegations to share experience and information.

The two sides signed a memorandum of understanding on preparations for the Laos–Vietnam–Cambodia Front Presidium Conference, scheduled for this November in Vientiane.
