The visit aimed to promote mutual understanding, friendship, solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.

During their talks, General Dung and Lieut. Gen. Sayalat, informed each other of the socio-economic situation in their own countries, the outcomes of cooperation in 2009 and worked out plans for bilateral cooperation in Party and political activities. They agreed to implement the activities in the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the two Ministries of National Defence.

They also agreed to promote the exchange of visits and information of mutual concern and the search for remains of voluntary soldiers and Vietnamese military specialists who laid down their lives in Laos during the past wars.

The same day, the delegation was received by Party leader Nong Duc Manh who expressed his hope that the Lao delegation’s visit would be a success.
