Mr. Trong made the request at a working session with the authorities of the Central Highland province on March 19.
Deputy PM Trong highlighted Lam Dong’s socio-economic achievements over the past five years with annual GDP growth of 14 percent, export turnover estimated at more than US$1.2 billion, and per capita income reaching VND20 million per year.
Lam Dong has seen significant development in socio-economic infrastructure as well as social welfare. Advanced technologies have been applied effectively in educational and healthcare services while social security and order have been maintained.
The Deputy PM asked the province to focus more attention on dealing with problems related to employment, environmental pollution, deforestation, complaints and denunciation, illegal mining, traffic accidents, and the spread of epidemics.
Lam Dong should keep a close watch on implementing currency policies, cut public spending, promote production, and ensure social welfare, he said.
Mr. Trong also asked Lam Dong to boost communications to ensure the success of the upcoming elections of the 13th National Assembly and People’s Council at all levels.
