On October 15, the Party Committee and the People’s Committee from the northwestern mountainous province of Lai Chau celebrated the 100th anniversary of its establishment, the 60th anniversary of the provincial Party Committee and received the Ho Chi Minh Order.

The celebration was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Truong Vinh Trong, Head of the Party Central Committee’s Mass Mobilisation Committee, Ha Thi Khiet, heroic mothers, revolutionary veterans, plus representatives from Lai Chau, Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Dien Bien, Hoa Binh, Hanoi, Laos and China’s provinces.

In his opening speech, the Secretary of the Lai Chau provincial Party Committee, Nguyen Minh Quang, reviewed the 60-year development of the Lai Chau provincial Party Committee and the province’s construction and development efforts over the past 100 years, especially during the country’s Doi Moi (Renovation) process.

Since its establishment, through different periods of history, Lai Chau people also have made a worthy contribution to the country’s development process. Under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the province has overcome its difficulties and challenges and recorded significant achievements in the struggle for national liberalisation and construction, the provincial Party leader said.

Deputy PM Trong asked the people of Lai Chau to make more effort to get the local economy out of difficulty while taping into its full potential to reduce poverty and boost socio-economic development along with reinforcing national defence and security.

On the occasion, Mr Trong awarded the Ho Chi Minh Order to Lai Chau province and presented certificates to several provincial leaders.
