The central highland province of Kon Tum can develop coffee and rubber growing areas but afforestation development is the most effective, long-term measure for local people to strike gold, said Party leader Nong Duc Manh during his working visit to the province from December 10-11.

At a meeting with the Kon Tum provincial Party Committee, Party leader Manh underlined the need to build new rural areas, reduce poverty, and train human resources to maintain sustainable development.

Afforestation development is a long-term measure for local people to create wealth, therefore, it is essential to study mechanisms and policies to reach this goal and to ensure that forestry workers’ incomes are commensurate with their contributions to afforestation.

During his visit to Sa Thay district in Kon Tum, Mr Manh talked to local people about issues related to food, clothing, accommodation, education and health care while asking the parties concerned to deal with these issues as soon as possible to stabilize their lives.

The Party leader also asked the province to make thorough preparations for the Party Congress at all levels and boost its socio-economic development in an effective and sustainable manner.
