The president of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, has concluded his official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of President Truong Tan Sang.

During his stay in the country, President Nazarbayev held talks with President Sang, and met with Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, and National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung.

They underlined the traditional ties between the two countries, and focused their discussions on measures to raise their comprehensive bilateral relationship to a new level.

In an atmosphere of mutual understanding and trust, they agreed on many regional and international issues of mutual concern and affirmed to continue coordinating closely at international forums and events.

The two sides also signed a joint statement and many bilateral cooperative agreements.

President Nazarbayev and his entourage visited the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, laid wreaths at the Memorial to Revolutionary Martyrs, and visited the Temple of Literature – the first university in Vietnam, and Hanoi National University, where he was presented an honorary doctorate degree.
