Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has urged the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) to focus on building laws and ordinances as scheduled, especially those related to administrative and judicial reforms.

Deputy PM Phuc was speaking at a January 6 conference in Hanoi to launch MoJ plans for 2012.

He hailed the ministry’s achievements in 2011 and asked it to build a detailed action plan and propose to the government the amendments to the 1992 Constitution in order to build a socialist law-governed state.

The MoJ should take the initiative to propose measures to complete the legal system, firstly the institutions for a market economy to lay a firm legal foundation for restructuring the economy and renovating the growth model, as mentioned in the PM’s New Year message, he said.

Mr Phuc also asked the ministry to increase resources for the assessment of legal documents to make it a constitutionally reliable tool.

In 2012, the judicial sector aims to improve its State management on law making and enforcement. It will continue researching and providing consultancy for the Party, National Assembly, State, and municipal and provincial People’s Councils on the amendments to the 1992 Constitution on the basis of the law-governed principle to ensure the leadership of the Communist Party, the class nature, and Vietnam’s global integration.

The sector will also boost civil sentence enforcement, state management of judicial administration, judicial assistance, and the communication of law among the people.
