Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai has praised the commitment the Japanese Government   and Japanese international organisations have made to maintaining ODA funding for Vietnam despite the country facing difficulties caused by natural disasters.

At the May 4 reception for Kodera Kiyoshi, the Vice President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Mr Hai expressed the Vietnamese Government and people’s sympathy with the Japanese people over the catastrophic earthquake and tsunami, while saying that the Vietnamese Government will make greater efforts to use the ODA funding effectively.

Deputy PM Hai thanked JICA for continuing its close cooperation with Vietnam, especially in providing technical support for new projects to cope with climate change under the public-private partnership (PPP) model.

Mr Kiyoshi spoke highly of the Vietnamese Government’s efforts to stabilise the macro economy and control inflation and considered this an important foundation for JICA to maintain its ODA cooperation commitments to Vietnam.
