Japanese prefecture asked to increase investment in Vietnam

VOV.VN - Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh has urged Japan’s Fukuoka prefecture to intensify its investment in Vietnam in auto manufacturing, digital technology, renewable energy, environmental protection, climate change adaptation, and clean agriculture. 

At a reception in Hanoi on June 26 for Governor of Japan’s Fukuoka prefecture Hiroshi Ogawa, the Vice President hailed the official’s ongoing  working visit, which coincides with the two countries's celebration of the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties. 

Japan is now the biggest provider of official development assistance (ODA) of Vietnam, ranking second among foreign investors in the Southeast Asian country and being its third biggest tourism partner. 

Thinh also spoke  highly of the fruitful cooperation between Fukuoka and Vietnamese localities, especially Hanoi over the past years and thanked the prefecture authorities for assisting the Vietnamese Consulate General in Fukuoka, which acts as a bridge linking Fukuoka with Vietnamese localities. 

Thinh told her guest that she hopes both sides would enhance collaboration in human resources training and education, and Fukuoka would receive more Vietnamese trainees to improve their skills. 

She underlined the need to boost exchanges between the two countries’ students to further deepen people-to-people diplomacy and their mutual understanding.

In rely, Ogawa said his visit's aim is to to mark the 10th anniversary of the signing of a friendship cooperation agreement with Hanoi and pledged his best efforts to strengthen economic and people-to-people exchanges between Fukuoka and Vietnamese localities in the years to come.
