Japan, Vietnam rejoice over all-around relations

VOV.VN - President Vo Van Thuong and Japanese Emperor Naruhito expressed their elation at the sound and comprehensive development of Vietnam-Japan relations and the increasingly closeness of the two peoples during their meeting held on November 28 in Tokyo.

The meeting took place as part of the Vietnamese State leader’s visit to Japan from November 27 to November 30 following an invitation made by the Japanese State leader.

On behalf of the Vietnamese State and People, President Thuong thanked the Japanese Emperor and Empress, as well as members of the Japanese Royal Family, for their good feelings and deep concern for the Vietnamese people, along with the friendly and co-operative relationship that has existed between both sides for many years.

The President and his wife also displayed their emotions and thanked the Japanese Emperor, Empress, and Government for giving the Vietnamese Delegation a respectful and cordial welcome during the official visit to Japan.

The royal pair expressed their pleasure at welcoming the Vietnamese President and his wife on an official visit to Vietnam on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of both nations' diplomatic ties.

They thanked the State and people of Vietnam for providing Crown Prince Akishino and the Princess with a respectful welcome and plenty of affection during their official visit to Vietnam last September.

Emperor Naruhito and his spouse said that the level historical cohesion and exchanges, similarities in cultural, and human factors are among the basic factors in deepening mutual relations across a variety of fields.

They expressed confidence that cultural and people-to-people exchange activities launched across many localities of the two countries this year, amid the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations, will help to strengthen understanding between the two countries’ people. This will therefore make an important contribution to intensifying people-to-people exchanges and friendly co-operative relations.

President Thuong went on to express his positive impression of the country and people of Japan, going on to share profound memories of his previous visits to Japan in various different positions.

He outlined his belief that the two countries have many cultural similarities and common values and interests, adding that it is the consensus of the leaders and people of the two countries that has created a solid foundation for developing Vietnam-Japan co-operative relations.

President Thuong affirmed that the historic visits made by Japanese Royal family members left a good impression in the hearts of the leaders and people of Vietnam.

This will therefore further contribute to deepening trust and mutual understanding between the two peoples and bringing joint ties to that of a comprehensive strategic partnership for the causes of peace and prosperity in Asia and throughout the world.

As part of the occasion, President Thuong, on behalf of the State and people of Vietnam, invited the Japanese Emperor and Empress to visit the nation in the future.
