Japan will continue to strengthen its cooperation with Vietnam, said the Japanese Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson, Kazuo Kozama on the sidelines of the 9th Asia-Europe Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (FMM9).

In his view, by holding the FMM9, Vietnam has proved its worthy role and position in the International arena.

During their meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Khiem and the Japanese Foreign Minister discussed issues of mutual concern in an open and friendly manner, said Kozama.

Both countries have maintained their fine relationship, especially, after establishing a strategic partnership, he further said, citing, Party leader Nong Duc Manh’s visit to last month which was followed by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung’s.

Vietnam is seen as being an important partner for Japan in Asia and Vietnam-Japan relations have developed well in various areas such as trade, culture and education, Kozama added.
