During his five-day stay, President Peres held talks with President Sang, and met with Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and National Assembly Nguyen Sinh Hung.
The leaders expressed desires to strengthen multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Israel, especially in science-technology, agriculture, trade, investment and tourism.
They exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual concern and agreed to increase the exchange of information for the sake of peace, stability, cooperation and development.
The Vietnamese leaders affirmed that Vietnam attaches importance to developing cooperative relations with countries in West Asia, including Israel.
They said they support peaceful dialogues and international efforts to settle disputes, including the Palestine-Israeli conflict, on the basis of international law and in the legitimate interests of concerned parties.
They welcomed Israeli businesses’ decisions to invest in Vietnam and proposed Israel support Vietnamese businesses in penetrating its market.
The two sides signed an agreement on maritime transport cooperation and a supplementary document to a protocol on financial cooperation. They also agreed to establish the Vietnam-Israel inter-government committee.
President Peres invited President Sang to visit Israel and the invitation was accepted with pleasure.
