During the visit, the general director of the French Institute for Research and Development (IRD) Michel Laurent held a meeting with chief representatives and researchers of the institute working in Southeast Asia as well as leaders from Vietnamese relevant ministries and research institutes.

At a working session with officials from the Ministry of Science and Technology, representatives from universities and leaders from the Social Sciences Institute, Mr Laurent expressed his wish to learn more about Vietnam’s research work and prospects for joint scientific programmes to be conducted between the IRD and Vietnamese partners.


He emphasized Vietnam’s possibility of conducting training courses for developing countries as well countries from other continents, especially Africa.


The IRD will send more experts to Vietnam to join in training doctors for the country.
