Deputy Foreign Minister Mohammad Ali Fatollahi attended a political consultation round between the Foreign Ministries of Iran and Vietnam during his visit to Hanoi on June 17-19.

The Vietnamese delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Doan Xuan Hung.

The two sides briefed each other on the socio-economic situation in their respective countries, and discussed measures to increase all-round cooperation in the near future. They also exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual concern.

They all agreed that both Vietnam and Iran still have great potential for strengthening friendship and cooperation, meeting the aspirations of their leaders and people.

They said both countries should effectively implement agreements reached at the 6th session of the Vietnam-Iran Joint Commission in December 2009.

The Iranian diplomat paid a courtesy visit to Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem and met with leaders of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and visited several economic and cultural centres in Hanoi.
