Inspectorate sector urged to make greater effort

The inspectorate sector should be more transparent and strong, said Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung at the sector’s 65th anniversary held in Hanoi on September 28.

Speaking at the ceremony, the PM highlighted the sector’s achievements, pointing out that generations of the inspectorate sector have spared no effort to strengthen their political spirit and professional skills to protect the Party, the government and the legal rights of the people.

In its 65th years of development, the Inspectorate has discovered and corrected many violations of the law, cases of corruption, and loopholes in policies, as well as weaknesses in management. The people receiving and resolving complaints have also improved, thus contributing to ensuring social order.

PM Dung urged the sector to complete its investigation mechanism to correct the weaknesses in state management, detect and prevent corruption, and ensure the transparency of the business environment to contribute to the country’s socio-economic development.

The inspectorate should attaches great importance to building the capacity of its staff and actively respond to the campaign for “learning and following President Ho Chi Minh’s moral example”, Mr. Dung said.

He also asked the Government Inspectorate to propose a draft law on complaints and denunciations to the National Assembly and prepare to review the past five years of the implementation of the anti-corruption law.

Chief Government Inspector Tran Van Truyen reviewed the 65-year tradition of the inspectorate, especially in the renewal process. The sector has made great contributions to ensuring political, social and economic stability.

Every year, the sector carries out thousands of investigations, focusing on the state management of land, natural resources, industrial park projects, the equitization of state-owned businesses, finance, banking, customs, and social insurance, said Truyen.

Its activities have also gained much attention of the Party and State and the sector’s position has continuously improved.

Also at the ceremony, PM Dung granted the Government Inspectorate the Gold Star Order.
