President Nguyen Minh Triet received Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Lal T. Muana at the Presidential Palace on June 2, as he prepared to end his term in the country.

The president said India is a powerful economy in the world and he congratulated the outgoing ambassador on its growth in recent years. Mr Triet recalled the history of long-age traditional ties between the two peoples, especially during Vietnam’s two recent resistance wars.

President Triet thanked the ambassador for his contributions to developing the Vietnam-India strategic partnership and said he wanted to extend his best regards to the Indian President and Prime Minister.

Meanwhile, the Indian ambassador said India wants to know more about Vietnam’s recent socio-economic development and learn Vietnam’s experience in poverty reduction.

He reiterated that Vietnam is an important partner that links India with ASEAN economies.
