The Vietnamese Government has successfully reformed its organisational structure by reducing the number of ministries and agencies from 50 in the subsidized period to the current 23.
Experts and economists emphasized this at a seminar on building capacity for the government, which was held by the Central Institute for Economic Management (CIEM) and the Swedish International Development Agency (Sida) on April 29.
They said the government has made important innovations and the capacity of government staff has improved since the doi moi (renewal) process.
However, they said, it is important to improve the effectiveness of the government’s operation to meet the demand of national construction.
CIEM Director Le Xuan Ba said in the context of global integration, it is necessary to take effective measures to improve the capacity of the government.
