They agreed that the ideological and cultural sector had renewed its operation, bringing about practical results and positively contributing to the country’s tremendous achievements in 2006. They said the sector had made important recommendations to Party committees and agencies and played the leading role in encouraging cadres, Party members and people to give opinions on documents of Party congresses at the grassroots level.
Delegates also pointed out weaknesses in the ideological and cultural work, such as failure to give timely and convincing answers to questions arising from daily life, low-quality education in terms of political theory, morality and lifestyle within the Party and people and low efficiency of information dissemination. They added that cultural and artistic activities were still far from meeting people’s requirements and that there were no works of literature on par with the great history and achievements of the nation.
In his closing speech, To Huy Rua, member of the Party’s Political Bureau and Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Ideology and Culture, said in 2007 the sector will continue to renew its operation, replicate the good and curb the bad, and better carry out the campaign of “Studying and following Ho Chi Minh’s moral example”.
He noted that this is a big campaign aimed at making the entire political system and every cadre, Party member and State worker fully aware of the position and role of morality as well as the need to act and follow President Ho Chi Minh’s moral example.
