Hungary’s National Day marked in HCM City

The Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organisations held a gathering on August 20 to celebrate Hungary’s National Day.

Speaking at the event, Le Minh Triet, Chairperson of the association, stressed that the celebration not only honours history but also helps consolidate the strong friendship between the two peoples. He noted that 2025 marks the 75th anniversary of Vietnam – Hungary diplomatic relations, which have expanded across various fields such as politics, economy, education, culture, and people-to-people diplomacy. Both countries take pride in successful cooperation projects and look forward to new opportunities in the future, particularly in innovation, green economy, and digital transformation.

Triet thanked the Hungarian Consulate General in the southern metropolis and relevant agencies for supporting people-to-people diplomatic activities run by the organisation, contributing to the sustainable development of bilateral ties.

Hungarian Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Lehocz Gabor underlined the historic significance of the National Day on August 20 and congratulated Vietnam on its achievements over the past eight decades. He also praised the contributions of generations of Vietnamese alumni and officials who studied and worked in Hungary, saying they have laid a solid foundation for bilateral cooperation, particularly in politics, culture, sports, economy, and people-to-people connections.

He expressed hope for continued collaboration with HCM City in upcoming events marking the diplomatic anniversary, further fostering bilateral friendship and mutual understanding.
