Hungary has always attached importance to its ties with Vietnam and now wants to lift bilateral relations to a strategic partnership, said the outgoing Hungarian ambassador.

Ambassador Vizi Laszlo told State President Truong Tan Sang during a reception at the Presidential Palace in Hanoi on May 21 that Hungary is willing to serve as a link for Vietnamese goods to penetrate the European market.

Hungary is ready to share with Vietnam its experiences in the fields of new energy sources, electronic technology, culture, and education, Laszlo said.

At the reception, President Sang confirmed Vietnam’s policy to develop its traditional ties with Hungary and other countries.

Mr Sang expressed hope that the two sides will develop trade ties on a par with their political relations.

Regarding international issues, the Vietnamese president thanked Hungary for having supported the nomination of Vietnam as a candidate to the United Nations Human Rights Committee.

He invited the Hungarian leader to visit Vietnam in the near future.
