The province of Hung Yen needs to increase the application of new technologies in production to develop strongly and become a high-tech industrial centre, and a centre of good-quality products and services, said Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.

During his visit to Hung Yen on May 11, Mr Dung worked with local authorities in connection with the province’s socio-economic developments in the past five years, as well as its plan for the next five years.

He praised remarkable Hung Yen’s average annual economic growth rate of 11.2 percent with the industrial and services sectors accounting for over 70 percent. The province’s poverty rate has now dropped to 3 percent, while its average income per capital is VN20 million/year.

The PM suggested that Hung Yen focus on developing its trademarks and increasing its competitiveness. The province should take advantages of its well-trained work forces and good transport infrastructure, as well as its location in a key northern economic region, he said.
