A plaque in memory of the well-known Vietnamese leader was unveiled in Vladivostok train station in Russia on May 19. Ho Chi Minh travelled through the station many times on his way to Moscow when he stayed in the former Soviet Union.
In the 1920s and 1930s, President Ho visited the City of Vladivostok, the administrative capital of Primorye – a region in the Russian federation. He told his comrades that the city had hidden him when he had to evade the French secret police operating in the era.
President Ho Chi Minh’s birthday is celebrated annually in Vladivostok, attracting the participation of the staff from the Vietnamese Consulate General in the city, Vietnamese businesses operating here, members of the Primorye Friendship Society and local students studying the Vietnamese language.
In Cuba, the Vietnamese Embassy linked with the Cuban Institute of Friendship with Peoples to visit and present computers to a high school named after Ho Chi Minh in Jaruco district, La Habana province, on May 18. The same day, the chapter of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth League in Cuba and the Institute visited and presented gifts to a centre caring for underprivileged children in Lisa district in the capital city of Havana.
In Paris, the Association of Vietnamese in France held a ceremony to commemorate the 119th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh, revising the stages in his career as well as the deep sentiment that overseas Vietnamese in France have for him.
