Lao Kho village was where late General Secretary of the Laos People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Kaysone Phomvihane conducted revolutionary activities between 1948 and1950. It is also closely linked to the traditional values and cultures of Laos and Vietnam, as well as their special friendship and solidarity.
In his speech at the ceremony, NA Chairman Hung praised the great political significance of the event in welcoming Vietnam-Laos Friendship Year 2012. He asked the construction units to ensure the quality of the project, which has historic value for both countries.
Lao NA Chairwoman Pany Yathotou said the construction of the relic site is an expression of respect and acknowledgment of the contributions made by previous generations, especially late General Secretary Kaysone Phomvihane.
Ms Yathotou said she hopes the site will serve to educate and encourage the younger generations of both countries to uphold and develop the fine traditional friendship between Vietnam and Laos.
The construction of the site is one of the activities organized to celebrate 50 years of diplomatic ties between the two nations and the 35th anniversary of the signing of the Vietnam-Laos Friendship and Cooperation Treaty.
