The Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee convened its third meeting of the 9^th term on March 1 to discuss the implementation of six key programmes: including improving the quality of human resources, combining administrative reform with creating a new model for urban administration, accelerating the economic restructuring, and reducing traffic jams, floods and environmental pollution.

In the previous term, Ho Chi Minh City made significant progress in training human resources, achieving administrative reform and economic restructuring, creating fabourable conditions for building infrastructure, improving the investment environment, and supplying human resources for economic development and integration.

However, some obstacles still remain, such as cumbersome administrative procedures that cause difficulties for both businesses and citizens. Measures and policies to support economic restructuring are not strong enough for breakthroughs in competitiveness and the quality of growth.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Secretary of the municipal Party Committee, Nguyen Van Dua, said the 9th Party Congress set up six key programmes which show the committee’s determination to address urgent issues related to growth targets and social welfare to achieve rapid and sustainable development. The meeting aims to devise measures to implement these programmes successfully.

The meeting will end on March 2.
