HCM City leaders pay tribute to martyrs at Ben Duoc Temple
VOV.VN - A high-ranking delegation from Ho Chi Minh City led by Le Quoc Phong, member of the Party Central Committee and Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee paid tribute to heroic martyrs on the morning of July 27 at the Ben Duoc Martyrs Memorial Temple in An Nhon Tay commune.
The event marked the 79th War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947-July 27, 2026).
At the temple, the delegation laid a fresh wreath, offered incense, and observed a minute of silence before the sacred memory of President Ho Chi Minh, Heroic Vietnamese Mothers, and fallen heroes, bowing in profound gratitude for the compatriots, cadres, and soldiers who bravely fought and sacrificed their lives for national liberation, construction, and defense.
The Ben Duoc Martyrs Memorial Temple is where the names of 45,639 outstanding sons and daughters of the nation who fell for national independence and freedom through two resistance wars against French colonialism and American imperialism are inscribed. It is also the largest martyrs memorial temple in Ho Chi Minh City, built right in the heart of the "iron triangle" on the land of the Cu Chi tunnels.
Subsequently, the delegation visited, offered incense, and laid flowers at the Cu Chi Martyrs Cemetery in An Nhon Tay commune and the Ho Chi Minh City Policy Beneficiary Cemetery in Phu Hoa Dong commune.
At the cemeteries, the delegation observed a respectful minute of silence to commemorate the great sacrifices of the citizens and soldiers who fought courageously and laid down their lives for the nation's independence, freedom, and sacred territorial integrity. They pledged to continue learning, contributing, and working together to build a more civilized, modern, and compassionate Ho Chi Minh City.
