HCM City beefs up cooperation with Cuban localities
VOV.VN - Ho Chi Minh City is to launch a string of activities to strengthe friendship and cooperation with Cuban sectors and localities in future time, has said Permanent Vice Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Tat Thanh Cang.
At a reception for visiting President of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with Peoples (ICAP) Fernando Gonzalez Llort in HCM City on April 13, the municipal official thanked the Cuban people for their support for Vietnam during the past struggles for national independence, adding that the city will double efforts to further enhance the time-tested friendship between the two nations.
He congratulated Cuba on its recent socio-economic progress and expressed his admiration for the country’s tremendous achievements in bio-research, health and education despite difficulties from trade embargo.
Fernando Gonzalez Llort, in turn, said the recent visit to Cuba by General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong demonstrated a strong determination to promote bilateral ties and provided a foundation for further fostering relations between the two Parties and peoples.
Highlighting the dynamic development of HCM City, the ICAP President affirmed the institute’s readiness to work hand in hand with HCM City towards stronger ties between the two nations.
