Working with local authorities during a visit on May 19, Dung suggested Hau Giang draw up specific training plans for every economic sector in need of high quality human resources, meeting the requirements for development in the locality.

He noted that Hau Giang has great potential for development while the poverty rate is 20 percent, higher than the national level. To fully tap into its potential, the province should quickly apply sci-tech advances in agricultural production and aquatic farming along with developing the processing industry, said the PM.

As an agricultural province, Hau Giang should develop a scheme on commercial rice growing by using high yield strains and supporting farmers in purchasing rice, said Dung.  

He reminded the provincial authorities to accelerate administrative reform to attract domestic and foreign investment, help businesses access bank loans for production, and expand outlets.

In the first four months of this year, Hau Giang achieved an industrial production growth rate of 39 percent, and total retail and service revenue increased by 49 percent.
